A theatre project for 13-19 year olds

19th April 2010 - 15th July 2010

From April – July in 2010, Half Moon, The Space and Oxford House will each host an after-school theatre group for local teenagers who will work with a designer, playwright, composer, puppeteer and director to create their own play. Participants will take on roles in all aspects of the production, so whether they want to be on stage or behind the scenes, they can play their part. After working independently over three months, the three groups will come together and form one new show, which will be showcased over a celebratory performance week.

Through this project the three partner organisations are working to develop the provision of Youth Theatre in the borough, extending the activities presently offered by two of the partners and establishing an entirely new group at Oxford House serving the Bethnal Green area. By working with theatre professionals with a strong track record of both delivery/teaching and artform expertise, the project will empower the young people involved to recognise excellence in culture and improve the quality of theatre on offer Borough-wide. This project will give participants the confidence and voice to help shape their own projects and guide the arts sector to tailor projects to better fit their needs and those of their peers.
