Performing for success

The project involved working with Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Shropshire Archives and Beacon Radio to deliver a 20 hour course over 10 weeks, allowing young people the opportunity to explore various art forms.

1st October 2009 - 30th April 2010

Students have experienced a variety of art forms to broaden their cultural appreciation and improve their key skills. The course has been co-ordinated by AFC Telford Study Centre during which pupils have attended tours of the New Bucks Head Stadium, Blists Hill Victorian Village, Shropshire Archives and Beacon Radio.

During the course of these visits the young people took part in a wide variety of creative activities, from creating Victorian artwork and examining historical artefacts to creating a news report and advert.

The pupils are putting together their work in a portfolio to gain national accreditation in Arts Award at bronze level.
