This project is designed to equip professional creative practitioners with a range of skills, knowledge and experience in order to
- Enable them to work in schools;
- Allow them to develop their practice to deliver and facilitate creative workshops collaboratively with teachers and students;
- Provide them with an understanding of the potential link their activities to curriculum agendas…
…and to link CYP to creative professionals living and working in the Creative Quarter which is at the heart of the arts led regeneration of the District.
Six practitioners worked with six mentors, who were experienced arts educators. The practitioners included a ceramicist, a clothes designer/textile artist, a film maker, a fine artist and an illustrator/scribe.
They all worked alongside teachers with groups of secondary students to collaboratively produce some very interesting work, including a proposal for a young person’s contemporary visual art Triennial, including curatorial statements, Photoshop mock-ups of sculpture installation, and scale models of the proposed pieces.
