Osborne School Film and Media Clubs

Developing exciting opportunities to explore film and visual media at an after school club for young people with learning difficulties

1st September 2009 - 31st March 2010

Osborne School students have a variety of learning difficulties and the film and media clubs have been formed to support their learning out of the classroom.  By watching and discussing films and learning about different aspects of film making, the young people are able to work creatively together in a fully supported environment.

Media Club are currently making a film called OS News and hope to take part in next year’s Winchester Film Festival.

A recent trip to the Movieum in London included many firsts; a trip by train, seeing the sights in the capital, visiting a museum and taking part in filming and animation workshops.  When we spoke to them after the trip, the students were still buzzing with excitement. Kelly loved seeing the sights and filming a really creative story in the museum, while Paul was impressed with the Beatles memorabilia. Film Club Tutor, Ben, reported back “It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in this school.  It’s one of those days when you look around and say ‘This is brilliant!’”
