Showcase - art exhibition

One of the aims of the Liverpool City Region pathfinder was to develop a model for identifying, nurturing and showcasing talent shown by young people, ensuring they have the tools, information and support they need to explore and develop their creative talents. There was a desire to positively enhance young peoples’ aspirations and ambitions for themselves and their communities as a result of the programme.

9th July 2009 - 31st July 2009

The aim of this project was to produce a high-quality exhibition of art produced by A-Level and GCSE students to be exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery.

National Museums Liverpool's worked with three secondary schools, one from each of the Find Your Talent target areas: Sutton Sports College in St Helens, All Saints Catholic High School in Knowsley and North Liverpool Academy.  The result was 'Showcase' - a special exhibition displaying the talents of the students from these schools.

The range of work created for the exhibition was diverse and included drawings, paintings, photographs and sculpture. Sutton Sports College explored the theme of sanctuary.  All Saints Catholic High School worked with artist in residence Phil Garrett, while North Liverpool Academy produced a series of stunning digital images.

The exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery ran from 9-31 July 2009.
