Prostep

Find Your Talent Liverpool is running an accreditation programme for arts and the creative industries for young people not in education or employment.

Prostep, the creative arts accreditation pilot programme, is for young people aged 16-19 not in education or employment (NEET). Six young people with an interest in the arts will be recruited throughout August 2009 from Parr, Clock Face, Thatto Heath and Sutton areas of St Helens.

It is a bespoke and intensive 12 week course (at 12 hours per week), tailored to individual needs and interests of young people. The programme is run in partnership with the Citadel Arts Centre, Multi Activity Pilot Project, Helena Partnerships and Liverpool Arts and Regeneration Consortium partners.

 

    • Six NEET young people aged 16-19 will have increased participation in cultural activities via the accreditation programme
    • Development of arts-based skills including music, drama and sound technology
    • Enhanced personal development and employability skills for young people
    • Improved information and choice via work placement experience and mentoring from creative industries professionals
    • Career opportunities within the creative industries for young people
    • Practical and support for young people to enter further education, employment or training
    • To move six young people from the NEET register into education, employment or training following the conclusion of the project.
    • For six NEET young people to become peer educators and inspirational role models
    • Bespoke arts and creative industries training in individual interest area (for example music, drama, sound engineering, marketing and performance) linked to accreditation
    • Arts Award (Bronze and Silver) accreditation for young people
    • Creative industries placements, including Liverpool Arts and Regeneration Consortium partners
    • Give young people the opportunity to present their work to their peers, their communities, stakeholders and creative industries professionals
    • Young people as peer educators
    • Further personal development opportunities within the creative industries

    Outcomes for project partners:

    • Improved partnership working between Citadel Arts Centre, Multi Activity Pilot Project, Helena Partnership, Liverpool Arts and Regeneration Consortium partners, and other borough stakeholders including Youth Service, Arts Service and Connexions
    • Roll out pilot project for NEET young people across St Helens (via the Connexions Activity Programme)
