Future Arts have been running music technology workshops at Burley Lodge as part of a project that gives young people (aged 13-19) the opportunity to access, learn and become active in digital music creation.
The Future Arts project offers a music experience that reflects youth culture and fashions and eliminates the need for traditional music skills; young people can connect with music in a more user-friendly way and through the workshops harness their own creativity. By practicing new skills and sharing knowledge confidence, leadership and technology skills can be built in a comfortable environment.
The group were introduced to elements of music technology through a series of workshops which expanded their understanding of how music can be created – summed up by the idea that you don’t have to be a grade 8 pianist to be a grade A musician.
