Project: Securing cultural futures – building engagement and leadership opportunities for young people

Bolton Council

Holly became involved in Find Your Talent through her role as a volunteer with activ8 at The Octagon Theatre in Bolton.  Having been involved there for the past two years Holly has seen the fantastic range of personal and social benefits that being involved in the arts can have for young people.  She is really looking forward to the challenge of embedding young people’s leadership into the delivery of Find Your Talent in Bolton.  She will support them as they progress from being cultural ambassadors to peer tutors to young leaders.  Holly is committed to helping young people to make the most out of the opportunities and become the next generation of cultural leaders!

From an early age Holly has been involved in youth theatre and then went on to become involved in stage management.  After finishing her degree in Theatre, Film and Television, Holly went on to become a member of the Youth Council for the Young People’s Participatory Theatre project with Arts Council England.   A key role in this was to project manage an action research project across the North West.  This was successfully completed in March 2008 and engaged over 50 young people across the region.  Alongside this Holly was a Creative Young Leader at Contact Theatre in Manchester, which further developed her project management skills and understanding of the theatre industry.

As well as being involved in Find Your Talent Holly is a freelance drama facilitator across Greater Manchester.  She is also involved in Dramatically Healthy, activ8’s company in residence that works with young people across Bolton and Greater Manchester on the issues that matter to them.
