Project Advisory Group

A group made up of children and young people and adults to provide advice and support to the Project Director on tactics and strategies for engaging young people.

1st December 2008 - 31st July 2011

The group meets every term at venues around the District. Membership includes representatives of the cultural sector, teachers, local authority and youth workers as well as minimum 1/3 membership of children and young people aged 8-19. Through creative activities facilitated by a creative practitioners and the young people themselves the group has devised and developed a form of working and a toll The PAG Criteria aimed at ensuring that the voice and ideas of the young people is heard, the skills knowledge and experience of the adult members used and this joint resource can be used to genuinely influence the direction and delivery of the programme.

The young people are being supported to develop a range of transferable skills including leadership, decision making, and an understanding of cultural programming. The PAG criteria are being used by the group to develop programming into the Shepway Find Your Talent offer, and will form part of the evaluation framework, with the group involved in testing whether the offer delivers the benefits and impacts aimed for. The group believe that the PAG Criteria fully reflect the national Find Your Talent output and outcomes, and this will be tested as part of the evaluation.
Young people from the PAG presented their work and criteria through a session led and facilitated by them at the Unlocking Talent of Children and Young People Conference at the Barbican London on 13th October 2009.
