Sending SHOCK Waves through the School

Students at Churchill Community School’s CultureShock have created an original sculpture entitled “The Contradictions of Identity”.

5th March 2010

CultureShock was established in October 2008 and has been working with professional artists to create an installation piece to represent “IDENTITY”.
Funded by the Find Your Talent North Somerset pathfinder, the entire project from original concept through to completion has been managed by a group of students ranging from year 8, through to Sixth Form.

Designed by Sixth Form student Anya Stewart-Maggs and created by wood carver AD Tree-Pirate, the group hopes that the piece will make people think about what identity means to them, as well as be proud to be an individual in modern society.
CultureShock members:
Rosie Clements Catherine Innes Matt Hosgood
Charlotte Davies Natalie Hunter Megan Tait
Oli Glaisyer
Find Your Talent North Somerset’s principal aim is to create an environment in which children and young people have opportunities to be creative, generate ideas, design, deliver and experience a diverse range of creative and cultural learning opportunities.
