Find Your Talent inspires young film makers

Find Your Talent North Somerset has inspired young film makers to create a series of live drama, documentary and animation shorts which will be screened early next month at the The Curzon Community Cinema in Clevedon.

1st February 2010

Following on from the highly successful film-making project with seven local schools last year, Find Your Talent North Somerset continues to involve the young people at the very heart of the projects it commissions.

Film practitioner Pippa Robinson has worked with groups of young people at The Barn Clevedon, the YMCA in Clevedon, and Nailsea Youth House, and four short films have been made by young people from 11 to 21.

The films use live drama, documentary and animation to show the stories and ideas developed by the young people involved.

They explore the idea of future dreams, the effects of drugs, and stories related to the overall theme of identity.

The short films will be screened at the Curzon Cinema on Monday 1 February from 5.30 – 6.30 pm. Volunteers from the youth groups will be assisting with all the usual Front of House jobs that day, and tickets will be available on the door, at £1 for adults and 50p concessions.

The project has been made possible through funding from Find Your Talent, North Somerset with support from the 3 Youth Clubs and the Curzon Cinema.

The Curzon Cinema is one of over 60 Cultural Partners in the Find Your Talent North Somerset pathfinder.

The Royal Shakespeare Company, London College of Fashion, Welsh National Opera, National Portrait Gallery, National Trust (Tyntesfield), and Bristol’s Arnolfini Gallery are just some of the nationally renowned organisations who have signed up as Cultural Partners.
